Photo Guide

PHOTO TYPES

 
1. Event Cover Photo 
Cover photos are large images that will be used across the Universe platform.
 
2. Event Photo 
A smaller photo used to represent your event at checkout and on social media platforms.
 
3. Event Slideshow
Add a slideshow to your event page to increase interest for your event.
 
4. Event Description Images
Add images to the description area on your page to increase interest for your event.
 
5. Ticket Note Image
Add an image that will show on your tickets. 
 
6. Profile Photo
This image represents you and is used across the Universe platform.
 
7. Profile Cover Photo
The profile cover photo is a large image that lets you express who you are and your interests.
 

 


1. Event Cover Photo


Cover photos are large images that are used across the Universe platform. They are automatically resized to fit any web browser or mobile device. The photos will look different on your Universe event page depending on the theme you choose. Follow the guide for best results.

Event Cover Photo Specifications:

Recommended Size: 1800w x 1000h (or, 1800px x 1000px)
Ratio: 16:9
Filetype: .jpg (no text) or .png (with text)
Recommendations: single element within safe space (as shown below); limit text


Cover Photo Guide


Instructions:
 

Before creating your cover photo

 

1. Review the examples of themes shown above.

 

2. Follow the cover photo guide above for best results using your own photo editing software.

NOTE: In rare cases, the photo might be clipped in some layouts.

 

After you’re happy with the layout, upload your artwork:

 

3. On the top right of your window, under the dropdown menu, click “Dashboard”.

 

4. Under “Listings” find your event and click the title.

 

5. Click the “Design” tab at the top of the page.

 

6. In the sidebar, click “Photos” then “Cover photo”.

 

7. Select the “Upload a Photo” tab.

 

8. Click and open your files or drag your images into the dotted box. Hit Save.



 





 

NOTES:
- Using text in your Cover photo is not recommended as it is hard to read when the image is shown as a thumbnail.
- You can upload a GIF as your Cover photo, but keep it smaller than 1MB so that it renders properly





2. Event Photo


 

A smaller photo used to represent your event at checkout and on social media platforms.  

Event Photo Specifications:

Recommended Size: 1000w x 1000h (or, 500px x 500px)
Filetype: .jpg (no text) or .png (with text)
Recommendations: no text
 

Instructions:
 

To upload / update your event photo:

 

1. On the top right of your window, under the dropdown menu, click “Dashboard”.

 

2. Under “Listings” find your event and click the title.

 

3. Click the “Design” tab at the top of the page.

 

4. In the sidebar, click “Photos” then “Event photo”.

5. You have the option of choosing something from the library or uploading your own photo. To upload your own photo, click the "Upload a Photo" tab and then click to access your files or drag the photo you would like into the dotted box.

 

6. Select the “Upload a Photo” tab.

 

7. Once uploaded, you will be able to crop the photo. When you're happy with the crop, hit "Save".

 



 

NOTE: ​This photo will be cropped in a circle, so feel free to upload a larger image but keep in mind that the larger the image, the longer it can take to load.




3. Photo Slideshow

Add a slideshow to your event page to increase interest for your event.

 Photo Slideshow Specifications:

Recommended Size: 500w x 500h
Filetype: .jpg (no text) or .png (with text)
Notes: images will be resized to the size of the window; image will squish or stretch if cropping is not set; slides play automatically as a carousel
 

Instructions:
 

To create your Event Slide Show:

 

1. On the top right of your window, under the dropdown menu, click “Dashboard”.

 

2. Under “Listings” find your event and click the title.
 

3. Click the “Design” tab at the top of the page.

 

4. In the sidebar, click “Photos”, then “Photo slideshow”.

5. Under the "Upload Photos" tab, click and open your files or drag your images into the dotted box.


6. Once uploaded, click the “Manage Photos” tab.

 

7. Click “Crop” on all the desired photos you wish to edit. Remember, all photos not cropped will squish down or stretch out to fit the window size.

 

8. When you are happy with your images, hit “Save".

 

NOTE: If you cannot see your slide show, check to see if the section is enabled by clicking on "Sections" on the left panel and then mousing over "photo slideshow" on the panel beside it to make sure you can see the eye icon.  If you see an eye with diagonal line through it, click to enable this option.




4. Event Description Images
 

Add images to the description area on your page to increase interest for your event.
 


Event Description Image Specifications:

Recommended Size: 1000w x 500h
Filetype: .jpg (no text) or .png (with text)
 

Instructions:
 

To add your Event Description Image:

 

1. On the top right of your window, under the  dropdown menu, click “Dashboard”.

2. Under "Listings" find your event and click the title.


3. Click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page.

4. Under "Description", click the mountain picture icon in the tool bar.

5. Drag your image or click the "Choose File" button to begin uploading your images.

6. Click "Insert".




 5. Ticket Note Image

 

Add an image that will show on your tickets.

Ticket Note Image Specifications:

Recommended Size: 1000w x 500h (or, 1000w x 150h for a row of logos)
Filetype: .jpg (no text) or .png (with text)
 

Instructions:
 

To add your Ticket Note Image:

 

1. On the top right of your window, under the  dropdown menu, click “Dashboard”.

 

2. Under “Listings” find your event and click the title.

 

3. Click the “Edit” tab at the top of the page.

 

4. Below “Description” click “Add a note to tickets”.

 

5. “Ticket Notes” box will appear. Click the mountain picture icon in the tool bar.

6. Drag your image or clock the "Choose File" button to begin uploading your images.

7. Click "Insert".

 


6. Profile Photo​

This image represents you and is used across the Universe platform. 

Top bar:


Profile (dashboard, followers, following):
 

Profile (iOS app):

 

Profile Photo Specifications:

Recommended Size: 500w x 500h
Filetype: .jpg (no text) or .png (with text)
Note: this photo will be cropped into a circle

 

Instructions:
 

To add or update your Profile Photo:

 

1. On the top right of your window, under the dropdown menu, click "Profile".
 

2. Initially, your profile will be the first and last initials of your name. Click this avatar.


3. A pop-up will appear. Click “or, upload from your computer” and select your photo.




7. Profile Cover Photo

This is a large image that lets you express who you are and your interests.

Profile (iOS app):

Profile Cover Photo Specifications:

Recommended Size: 820w x 285h
Filetype: .jpg (no text) or .png (with text)
Recommendations: no logos, faces, type or fonts
Note: This photo will be cropped when the window changes size

 

Instructions:
 

To add or update your Profile Cover Photo:

 

1. On the top right of your window, under the dropdown menu, click "Profile".

2. Initially, your cover photo will be a gray background.

3. Mouse over the gray cover photo. An icon will appear in the top left corner. Click the icon.


4. Upload your photo and click "open".
